Archive Description | Oral History - Lawrence Newton Elkins Mr. Elkins began his career in the criminal justice arena as an Intern for Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation and Detention Center at 307 Fort Street in Richmond. After graduation from college he was hired as one of the first Detention Officers for juveniles. Later, he was hired as a Probation Officer for the Adult Probation department. Lawrence spent 33 years working for Fort Bend County until his retirement in 2013. Lawrence comes from a long line of educators. He is the son of Lawrence Elkins, former Superintendent of Fort Bend ISD, and Sue Elkins, a teacher for 20 years. 12 Pages |
