Archive Description | Oral History - Marie Muehr Dunkerly Marie and her family were born in Schulenburg, Texas, and moved to Sugar Land in 1929 when she was 6 years old. Her father John Muehr worked for several companies including Sartartia Dairy. Marie’s first husband, Ray Miller, was killed in an auto accident in Greenville, Texas, in 1952. She later married Raymond Dunkerly in 1957. Marie worked for Imperial Sugar Company for twenty years until retiring in 1979. Marie has a terrific memory of people, places and events that occurred in the early years of Sugar Land. She still resides in the house that was built in 1920 and remains a long and faithful member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. 17 Pages |
