Archive Description | Oral History - Joe Gurecky Joe Gurecky shares his life growing up on a farm in Booth Texas. He describes life without a television or a telephone; how he rode a horse to visit family and neighbors; and the various activities that revolved around family, church and friends. He worked for Baroid Oil Field Services as a manager until starting his own company in 1983 in Rosenberg – Gurecky Manufacturing Services. Joe not only dedicated himself to growing his company but also gave back to the community as Rosenberg city councilmember and later as mayor. He was a guiding force behind managed growth in Rosenberg as well as the development of Brazos Town Center. He and his wife, Doris raised two daughters in Fort Bend County. Now, they give their time, talents and financial resources to many worthy charitable organizations in and around the county. |
