Archive Description | Oral History - Lawrence Alaminsky - In this interview Lawrence Alaminksy tells his life story. Born in Barton, Texas he moved to Sugar Land in 1946. For twenty seven years he worked for Sugarland Industries. In this Company Town all the homes were built and owned by Sugarland Industries. Laurence's job was to maintain the homes. He relays many amusing antidotes of small town life. He was a skilled carpenter and tells how he used salvaged wood in creative ways. He was an avid fisherman and reveals the best fishing spots in town. He also shares how he and his wife managed to buy one of the company town’s homes when they began to be sold to individuals.
