Archive DescriptionOral History - Dr. James Doyle Condrey Dr. Condrey, born in 1947 in Vidor Texas. After graduating in 1969 from Lamar University, he accepted a job in Houston to work for IBM as a medical marketing representative in the new field of medical software. Jim shares some interesting stories of selling in the Medical Center to doctors and medical schools. A few years later he decided to attend dental school. Graduating in 1975, he and another dentist set up practice in Stafford. By the early 80s, his practice has grown large enough to form a company with multiple dentists and move to a large facility in Missouri City. Jim was also involved in Rotary, the Fort Bend Chamber and was an active member of the Texas Dental Association and the American Dental Association committees and boards. He testified in Austin and Washington DC regarding issues that affected dentistry as well as helped develop legislation to protect patients’ safety and well-being and also to prevent bad legislation that would negatively impact dentistry. Dr. Condrey served on the Missouri City Planning and Zoning Council and on the Fort Bend County Flood Control & Water Supply Corporation and still serves on the Fort Bend Toll Road Authority board. He has witnessed the ever-changing practice of dentistry on a state and national level as well as the growth of Fort Bend County.
