Ms. Werner is an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Richmond, Texas. She spearheaded the effort to get the Church a State marker in the early 1980’s. It is the oldest congregation in Fort Bend County. Since this interview was taken the Church has been placed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
